IDPF to Revise ePub Standard

Publishers Weekly Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 4/6/2010 8:54:43 AM
The IDPF (International Digital Publishing Forum) has begun a 14-day comment period to begin a process to revise the ePub standard for e-books. In a note to members, IDPF president George Kerscher explained that during a minor revision of ePub the ePub maintenance group discovered the need for more significant enhancements.

During the comment period, IDPF members can view the proposed changes to ePub and send questions and comments to Kerscher or IDPF executive director Michael Smith. Members can also asked to be included in the working group.

Following the review period, the ePub charter will be revised, submitted to the
IDPF board for endorsement, and then submitted to the IDPF membership for a
vote.
