Though we don't usually cover the sale of foreign rights in the Daily, Dystel & Goderich rights director Lauren Abramo closed two notable YA sales on the heels of Bologna, and just before the London Book Fair. Both deals were in the mid-six figures and came, as Abramo noted, after weeks of bidding.

In the first deal, Abramo worked with Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein who sold the U.K. rights to Heather Brewer's five-book middle grade series The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod. Amanda Punter at Penguin UK's new Razorbill imprint won thje auction for the title, and plans to publish books one and two in the series--Eighth Grade Bites and Ninth Grade Slays--in February 2011. (Brewer is repped by DGLM's Michael Bourret.)

Then, in the second deal, Abramo worked with Annelie Geissler who sold, at auction, Amy Huntington's forthcoming Sleepwalking series to German publisher Loewe. HarperCollins is publishing the first book in the Sleepwalking series in 2011. Huntington is repped by DGLM's Stacey Glick, who sold the series to HC for six figures in December; Loewe is planning a spring 2012 publication for book one.
